As a trauma survivor, the last 25 years of my life has been focused on overcoming anxiety, post-traumaic stress disorder (PTSD), and shame from past physical abuse. Within those years I engaged in cognitive behavior therapy, meditation, and numerous self-help books. I realized I wanted to know the science behind mental health and returned to college where I graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Psychology as an honor student. I began volunteering in the mental health field and continued healthy practices but I still carried the weight of shame, which is an effect of any form of abuse. After acceptance into a Master’s Degree program, I sought out educational options that really met the needs of most trauma victims and found the International Association of Trauma Coaching. With completion of the course, I was finally able to release those bonds of shame and became a Certified Coach. Today, I find my joy hiking to waterfalls with Bearry (my standard poodle), volunteering, creating art, and gardening.
I take a collaborative and solution-focused approach to coaching. By working together, we can identify your strengths, overcome obstacles, and create a plan of action to help you achieve your goals.
As a certified life coach, I have completed extensive training in areas such as psychology, goal setting, and communication. I am also a member of the International Coaching Federation and committed to ongoing professional development.
Trauma coaching helps reprocess the past, live freely in the present, and cultivate a promising future. Within trauma coaching there is a focus on achieving personal goals in a safe and nonjudgmental environment while acknowledging any traumatic circumstance to support the journey of obtaining happiness.
